Anime Code: G

In the ashes of a global war, the city of Olympus rose, along with Bioroids, artificial clones.  While it seems that Bioroids live in peace with their human counterparts, human terrorists are plotting the destruction of all Bioroids.  Enter Deunan Knute, an ex-commando, picked to be on the ES.W.A.T. team.  With her is Briareos, her boyfriend, who is 75% machine.  Together, they must retrieve something called the Appleseed before all Bioroids perish.

Review: This is what it's all about, people, this is why I love anime.  This is the figurehead of the anime genre (even though it's CG).  The plot is intriguing, the characters deep, the action suspenseful, and it has everything I love.  The only thing I regret is that I didn't discover it sooner.  Masamune (who did Ghost In The Shell, mind you) has outdone himself once again.

Action Level: 5/5
Think Bubblegum Crisis, Gundam, and Gunparade March all rolled into one big bang package.

Romance Level: 4/5
I don't think even I could've plotted the whole Deunan/Briareos relationship better myself.  Thinking he's dead, then he shows up but he's mostly machine.  Beautiful, simply beautiful, we get to watch as their relationship soars and suffers through all.

Comedy Level: 1/5
Hitomi was pretty funny, even when she wasn't trying to be.

Adult Level: 3/5
Suspected homosexual tendencies between Deunan and Hitomi.  Yeah, I know, I know, wishful thinking.

Drama Level: 5/5
A soldier returning from war, lovers reunited, the whole question of what is humanity, oh man, there is so much good drama, I don't know where to begin.

Overall Level: 4/5
An excellent piece of work with a killer soundtrack.  The only bad part is all the Greek references.
